What Do You Mean By Guarantee, Warranty, and Insurance?Updated 2 years ago

While My Irish Jeweler does offer a guarantee service we do not offer a warranty service. So it may be helpful to clarify the difference between the terms guarantee, warranty, and insurance.

  • A guarantee is a binding comittment that if something goes wrong with your jewelry within a defined period of time, in our case the first year, and it’s our fault, we will resolve the issue for you at no cost to you. This usually involves replacing or repairing the item so that it is as good as new.
  • A warranty is a type of insurance you purchase from a retailer for a set period. You pay a premium to ensure that the seller will resolve any issue you may have with your item within the agreed period. For example, many electronics retailers offer extended warranties on their products. We are not set up to offer this service.
  • If you are currently considering purchasing, or have already purchased, an expensive piece of jewelry, we recommend that you add this item to your home insurance policy as soon as possible. Neither a guarantee nor a warranty will help if your precious engagement ring or wedding band is stolen or misplaced, but an insurance policy will. We provide valuations for all engagement rings for insurance policies, and your order confirmation from My Irish Jeweler will be an acceptable receipt / proof of purchase for your insurance company.
