Exceptions To Our One-Year Guarantee.Updated 2 years ago
When you purchase a piece of jewelry with My Irish Jeweler, it is guaranteed for one year from the date of shipping. This guarantee relates to crafting or manufacturing faults. In this way, we confirm our assurance of the quality of the pieces we offer. However, while we can be confident in the work of the craftspeople who make our range, we cannot stand over the work of anyone else.
If your piece is worked on by anyone other than My Irish Jeweler for any reason within the first year without prior discussion with us, your guarantee is null and void. For that reason, if you require any of the following services, please arrange them with us to ensure that the work can also be guaranteed:
- Ring sizing - When we size your ring for you, it is done in full knowledge of the construction of the ring. This is especially important with white gold. We have seen people end up with discolored rings because the jeweler didn't know the alloy composition of the metal they were reworking. In addition, when a ring is sized, any stone settings must be checked scrupulously. Any adjustment to the shank (band) of a ring can disturb claw or prong-set gems and can weaken or loosen settings. We will not repair or replace these items under guarantee.
- Soldering of wedding and engagement rings - This is not a common practice in Ireland or Europe in general, but we understand that it is often a preference in the USA. If you take rings to be soldered by another jeweler, we cannot stand over their work.. We have seen gemstones lost after rings have been soldered because, claws, prongs, and pavé settings were not checked properly when the work was done. We cannot replace missing gemstones or repair items that have been damaged as a result of someone else's work.
If you have any questions about alterations to an item you have purchased from My Irish Jeweler, please get in contact. We will be happy to discuss your needs and advise on the best course of action.
