Comfort Fit vs Flat Fit Rings.Updated 2 years ago
Most band-style rings come in two fittings: comfort fit and flat fit. But what does that mean - what is the difference?
Comfort fit:
The clue is in the name. A comfort fit band has a gentle convex curve on the inside of the band where the ring comes into contact with the finger making it more "comfortable". The curve means that not all of the inner band of the ring comes into contact with the skin. This allows more air to circulate around the finger. This fit is a popular choice, especially if your hands are prone to swelling in heat or humidity, or you have very sensitive skin.
Flat fit:
A flat fit ring does exactly what it says on the tin: the inner band is flat, and all of the metal comes into contact with the skin of your finger. This is the more traditional design, but as we saw above, it can cause problems for some with very sensitive skin, or those prone to swelling in their hands.
